With the HIPAA Privacy Final Rule moving forward and Transactions and Code Sets already published, AHIMA practice staff have revised a number of Practice Briefs to incorporate changes as dictated by HIPAA. Six new or revised Practice Briefs cover patient anonymity, release of information for marketing and fundraising purposes, notice of information practice, patient access and amendment to health records, consent for the use or disclosure of individually identifiable health information, and laws and regulations governing the disclosure of health information. All are available in the May Journal of AHIMA and on the Web site at http://www.ahima.org/journal/pb.html.
Additional revised and new Practice Briefs will be available on the Web site in late May.
