NEW QUICK-START HIPAA CLASSROOM TRAINING TOOLKIT RELEASED BY HCCS
-- Quick rollout for even the largest organizations
-- Expert content designed to educate all job-functions
-- Customizable with job-function/facility specific policies & procedures
JERICHO NY USA -- Feb, 20, 2003 -- Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc. (HCCS), producers of widely-used multimedia compliance and HIPAA computer-based training courseware, today released a HIPAA QUICK-START CLASSROOM TRAINING TOOLKIT for large organizations that plan to offer HIPAA training in a classroom setting. The toolkit is designed to be used by the full range of presenters - from novice to professional.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TOOLKIT:
The toolkit includes a customizable electronic/printable slide presentation, customizable instructor's notes for use in the presentation, instructor's manual, customizable student handouts, multi-media material in the form of videos and interactive exercises and a companion videotape consisting of real-life HIPAA workplace scenarios for presenters without the computer resources. The classroom toolkit allows for the easy integration of organization-specific content, including policies, procedures and state law.
A second HIPAA AWARENESS videotape, designed to be used by groups or individuals without instructor involvement, is also included.
CLASSROOM TRAINING CONTENT:
The classroom training content is consistent with the HCCS multimedia HIPAA Compliance online training courseware. Organizations may train some individuals using the HCCS computer-based training and others using the classroom toolkit. Organizations can be assured that they are delivering a single, consistent, educational message to their staff.
MULTIPLE EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY METHODS:
"The HIPAA rules and regulations are far-reaching and can affect every employee within an organization. Many organizations need multiple educational delivery methods to reach their entire population. This toolkit provides everything an educator, instructor or manager needs to get up and running quickly with HIPAA classroom training in a large organization," says Mitchell Diamond, President of HCCS.
CLASSROOM VIDEOTAPE:
The classroom videotape (included) contains real-life scenarios that are intended to be used as the basis for a discussion of the HIPAA regulations and the procedures that are required to comply with them.
HIPAA QUICK-START CLASSROOM TRAINING TOOLKIT CONSISTS OF:
-- Customizable HIPAA slide presentation. The presentation is provided in an editable, electronic format, with integrated multimedia graphics, audio and video scenarios. The presentation can be used on a computer with a classroom projector or can be printed for use in an overhead projector presentation. The multimedia scenarios will run directly within the presentation or from the videotape. The presentation can be made job-function specific and allows for insertion of facility and job-function specific information, such as policies, procedures and other relevant information. An organization may make unlimited copies of the presentation solely for use by instructors within its facility.
-- Customizable instructor's notes. The instructor's notes walk the instructor through each slide in the presentation and suggest appropriate related discussion. The notes will lead discussions on the multimedia scenarios and teach relevant concepts. A HCCS client organization may make unlimited copies of the instructor's notes for use by instructors within their facility.
-- Instructor's manual. Includes detailed information on ways to use the presentation and adjunct materials. Also includes information on how to edit the presentation for specific job-functions/audiences. Provides all information necessary to prepare for an easy, smooth presentation.
-- Printable student handouts that follow the information in the presentation. You may make unlimited copies of these handouts for use within your facility.
-- Classroom exercises. The computer-based interactive exercises contained in the HCCS HIPAA Compliance computer-based training courseware are available either as part of the slide presentation or in a printable format for use in the classroom.
-- A VHS videotape containing the multimedia real-life workplace scenarios to be used when the instructor wants to show the multimedia scenarios, but does not have a computer available. These are the same scenarios that are contained in the electronic computer presentation. The instructor's notes will help steer the classroom discussion of the multimedia scenarios.
-- Another 20-30 minute "HIPAA Awareness" VHS videotape. This is designed for "self study" and does not require a proctor or instructor. Designed for individuals or groups of trainees that do not require or have an instructor available. Also can be used for orientation purposes for new employees.
-- Quiz Questions. Short multiple choice exams test the trainee's comprehension.
UPDATE:
Initially, the HCCS HIPAA QUICK-START CLASSROOM TRAINING TOOLKIT focuses on the HIPAA Privacy regulations. An update to the toolkit will cover the Security regulations when they are finalized.
HCCS MULTIMEDIA COMPUTER-BASED COMPLIANCE TRAINING PROGRAMS:
HCCS produces multimedia computer-based compliance training programs, including, "HIPAA Compliance," "HIPAA Compliance for Health Plans," "Fraud Awareness -- Professional Compliance" and "Fraud Awareness - Corporate Compliance." These courses are designed to educate administrators, physicians and employees in healthcare facilities on regulatory compliance, including Privacy, Security, Billing, Stark Laws I and II, Documentation and Coding issues and other fraud risk areas. These courses help to minimize the risk of fines and fraud from lawsuits and abuse in an organization.
The HCCS course "Physician Office Compliance -- Proper Reimbursements and Reduced Risk," is available for small group practices of 1-6 physicians.
