Company Facts – About Healthcare Computing Strategies
HCS is a full-service consulting firm consisting of sixty (60) highly experienced consultants focused exclusively on the needs of healthcare organizations. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped clients achieve their financial and clinical objectives, providing solutions that are client-responsive, strategically significant, operationally sound and cost-effective. HCS has built its reputation by hiring or contracting with only senior professionals who are specialists in their respective fields.
The HCS methodology uses a six-phase approach for HIPAA compliance. HCS has developed a number of analytical tools and techniques enabling us to effectively conduct each of these phases from initiation through the final deliverables.
John Parmigiani, Practice Director of Compliance Programs leads our team of consultants. Before joining HCS, John directed the government’s efforts to develop the HIPAA Security Standards and was a key component in Health Care Financing Administration’s initiatives to implement national healthcare EDI, security, and privacy policy.

Tom Walsh, Practice Manager of Enterprise Security and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Tom is currently conducting classes on HIPAA Privacy and Information Security Officer Training for HIMSS and MIS Training Institute.
Margret Amatayakul, RHIA, FHIMSS, is an Associate Consultant. Margret was founder and executive director of the Computer-based Patient Record Institute [CPRI] which contributed standards to the HIPAA security regulations. She also has been a contract project manager to draft recommendations on uniform data standards for patient medical record information under HIPAA for the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS).
Vince Temples is the Practice Manager of Strategic Solutions. Vince has been responsible for healthcare and HIPAA activities with a PKI Certification Authority and a Medicare claims systems vendor since 1997. As a project manager, Vince was a key participant in the CA (security) workgroup for the WEDI/AFEHCT Internet Security Interoperability Pilot.
